Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. JOSEPH BAILER, a fashionable merchant tailor, was born in Prussia, September 2, 1838. He is a son of A. and G. (Leffler) Bailer, and in 1851 landed at New York City, where he remained one and one-half years, in which time he learned his trade. He then went to Philadelphia, Penn., and remained one year, and in 1854 removed to Cincinnati, and remained about eight years, then was in St. Louis one year; in 1864 he came to Covington, Ky., and in 1867 commenced business for himself. He is married, in March, 1867, to Dollie Hanhauser. Three children have blessed this union: Freddie, Harry and Josie. The family are members of the Catholic Church.
