CONLEY is a native of Johnson County, Ky., was born March 17, 1839, and is a son of Constantine and Celia (Fairchild) Conley, who were respectively born in North Carolina and Johnson County, Ky. Constantine Conley is now in his eighty-third year, and resides in Johnson County. A.J. Conley was reared on the home farm, but in 1863 engaged in mercantile business at Louisa, and continued until the spring of 1880. For the past eight or ten years, however, he has held the office of deputy county clerk. In May, 1866, he married Miss Rebecca Lesley, who died January 25, 1882; in October, 1884, he married Miss Mary J. Burgess. He is the father of three children: Milton Forrest, editor of the Big Sandy News, Martin Lesley and Stella E. Mr. Conley is a Democrat, and a Royal Arch Mason.
