Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. JOSEPH WALLACE was a tanner and enterprising farmer of Jessamine County some forty years ago. He was born in 1779, and was married in 1809. His eldest child, Mrs. Mary J. Browne, is living in Nicholasville. Mrs. Margaret Harris, another daughter, is also alive and resides in Missouri. James Wallace, son of Joseph Wallace, married Margaret Mays, May 2, 1850. He was born in 1812, and died about 1875. James Wallace was an upright citizen in every relation of life. He aspired to no place of public trust, but was a modest, diffident man, who did his duty in all respects. He sprang of the best stock of Scotch ancestry, and was naturally endowed with a refined mind. In spirit, in manner, in all his deportment he was a gentleman. He abounded in humor, but never ventured upon levity or immodesty. In business circles, he stood in the front rank. He managed a good fortune of his own, and left his children a competency through life. Joseph Wallace, his only son, has inherited the estate of his father, and is now carrying on the farm with success. He was married to Miss Lilla Bourne in 1877. The son, like his father, is an honest, fair dealing man. He has living one sister, Virginia. Wallace Harris Browne Bourne Mays = MO http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/jessamine/wallace.j.txt
