Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. DANIEL F. STAFFORD was born November 4, 1850, and is the eldest son of John W. and Martha A. (Johnson) Stafford. John W. Stafford was born in Jessamine County April 22, 1832, and Mrs. Martha Stafford was born May 8, 1829. The paternal grandfather, Daniel F. Stafford, was also a native of Jessamine County. He died in 1837. Daniel F., the subject or [sic] this sketch, also a native of Jessamine County, commenced to learn blacksmithing and wood working in 1864, under his father, who is now living in Madison County, Ky. He worked at his trades steadily for about five years, then began farming and raising stock on 134 acres in Sulphur Well District. He was married, September 4, 1879, to Miss Buanna, daughter of Dr. Thomas and Armeda Peel, both of Jessamine County, and both living. Mr. Stafford has two children: Thomas M. and Atha M. His maternal grandfather, Joseph Hunter, was the first child born of civilized parents in the present limits of Jessamine County, and the fourth in the State of Kentucky, He was born March 6, 1780, and died June 10, 1856.
