Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. MISS POLLY ANN ROBARDS was born in Jessamine County, and is a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Irvin) Kearby. John Kearby was born in Jessamine County, October 26, 1804; was a farmer and died in his native county. Polly Ann Kearby was married, February 10, 1842, to Levi A. Robards, of Lexington. He was a son of A. L. and Eliza (Waters) Robards, born May 17, 1819; was a plasterer and worked at his trade until 1842, when he engaged in farming which he followed until his death, July 5, 1876. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., and by his marriage with Miss Kearby was the father of ten children, of whom four are living: Elizabeth A., married to T. Dearinger; Sarah J., married to John Dedman; Charles B., married to Maggie Edger and Wilkerson T. Mrs. Robards is not a member of any church, but her eldest son, Charles B., is a member of the Presbyterian Church, while her daughters are members of the Christian Church. Mrs. Robards continues to cultivate the home farm, which contains 150 acres situated in Clover Bottom Precinct.
