Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. WILLIAM HUDSON was born May 11, 1835, and is the seventh and youngest son of William and Eliza (Grimes) Hudson. The father was born in Fayette County, Ky., in 1798, and learned the blacksmith's trade. He was drafted in the war of 1812, but procured a substitute. He worked at this trade in connection with farming until his death, in 1844. Mrs. Eliza Hudson was born in Bourbon County, and died in 1858. Until seventeen years of age William Hudson remained on the farm where he was born, ten miles east of Lexington, Ky. Then he learned the carpenter's trade under William Myres, and has worked at this and farmed ever since. He married, October 31, 1856, Miss Kate, daughter of David and Elila (Davis) Horine. Davis Horine was born in Orange County, Md., and died in Jessamine County, Ky., in his eighty-sixth year. Mrs. Elila Horine was born in Jessamine County. Five children have been born to this union, three of whom are living: Alice, born August 1, 1858, married to G. B. Miller; Franklin, born January 7, 1863; Charlie E., born March 29, 1865. Mr. Hudson is located five miles south of Nicholasville, on the Sulphur Well and Paint Lick Turnpike, and owns eighty-five acres of good land in Sulphur Well District. He and Mrs. Hudson are members of the Christian Church. Franklin Hudson has taught three successful terms of school in Jessamine County. He married, December 13, 1883, Alice Peel, daughter of Dr. Thomas and Armedia (Hunter) Peel. One child has blessed this union. Owen Hudson, born March 1, 1885. Charlie E. Hudson was born in Jessamine County March 29, 1865, and is the second son of William and Kate (Horine) Hudson. He was educated at the common schools, and is a young man of good education. He is now, and has been for some time, engaged in buying and selling, all kinds of stock. He is a fine judge of horses, and not long ago was engaged in the butcher business at Junction City, Boyle County, but sold out that business and is now turning his entire attention to stock. He is unmarried and makes his home with his father.
