Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. GUILFORD S. CURD was born in Mercer County, Ky., August 16, 1848, the eldest son of Robert S. and Mary E. (Curd) Curd. Robert S. Curd was born in Jessamine County July 15, 1821, was reared on a farm, and educated at the common schools. He sold goods at Curdsville, in Mercer County, for several years, also carried on a farm, and died in December 1883. Mary E. Curd was born in Mercer County November 25, 1828, and is still living. Guilford Curd's paternal grandfather, Joe Curd, was a shoemaker by trade, also carried on farming, and was a merchant part of his life; he was born in Virginia. Guilford was reared on a farm, and has always followed that occupation. He was married, April 2, 1872, to Miss Mary D. Woods, of Jessamine County, daughter of William C. and Eliza (Bryant) Woods. William Woods was born in Jessamine County in April, 1797, and died November 16, 1878. Mrs. Woods was born in 1814. Mr. Curd owns 150 acres of land in Lee District, on the Pleasant Hill Turnpike, ten miles southwest of Nicholasville. He is engaged in raising stock of all kinds, and is quite a cattle trader.
