Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. JOHN B. COLLINS, son of Ambrose and Sallie W. (Burgess) Collins, was born May 16, 1860, in Jessamine County, and was educated at the College of Arts, Lexington. At the age of twenty he began farming at Wilmore Station. In 1882 he removed to his present location on the Union Mills Turnpike, purchased 300 acres, and engaged in general farming and trading in stock. In 1883 he was appointed county assessor by the county judge, and has since been twice elected to the office, which he still holds. He was married January 13, 1881, to Miss Nettie, daughter of Thomas and Emily (Bogie) Jones, and there have been born to him two children: Ernest and Chassne.
