Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. EDMOND and JOHN BRYANT were natives of Culpeper County, Va. Edmond Bryant, in coming to Kentucky, first settled at Bryant's Station, and afterward on Lexington and Nicholasville pike on 300 acres, three miles from Nicholasville. John Bryant settled at Shakertown. Edmond married Frances Doggins, of Virginia, and had born to him the following children: John, Joel, George, Daniel, Thomas, Frances (Mrs. William Lewis), Benjamin, Phoebe (Mrs. John Barr), James, Sallie (Mrs. James Deadman) and Edmond. The eighth child of the pioneer Edmond Bryant, named Benjamin, was born in 1784 and died in 1860. He married Dorcas, daughter of Elish Craven, of Jessamine County, and had born to him the following children: Oliver D., Sandord (who died in Missouri), Harrison (living in Henry County, Ky.), Eliza (Mrs. William Woods), Matilda (Mrs. Jesse Stone), Margaret (Mrs. Thomas Shields), Woodson (who died in Woodford County, Ky.), Parker B. (who died in Fayette County, Ky.), and Martha (Mrs. Louis Craig). Oliver D. Bryant, the eldest child of Benjamin, was born January 27, 1809, remained with his father on the farm until thirty-nine years old, when he purchased the interest of his wife's brothers in his present place of 230 acres, in Keene Precinct, Jessamine County. He was married in December, 1839, to Mrs. Martha M. Singleton, widow of Joel W. Singleton, and daughter of Joseph and Susana (Hughes), and there have been born to him five children: Benjamin F., Mattio (Mrs. John A. Reid), Dudley H., Alexander W. and Cornelia F. (Mrs. Robert Henderson). Oliver D. Bryant is a deacon in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
