EDWARD T. TIERNEY, city auditor, was born November 16, 1857, in Louisville,
and is a son of James and Mary (Tracy) Tierney, natives of Ireland.  He
was brought up in this city and educated in the public schools; he learned
the harness maker's trade, which he followed for some time.  In 1883 he
was elected city auditor over several competitors.  He also served three
years as deputy in the tax receiver's office.  He was married in 1884, to
Miss Anna M. Kirwan, of Louisville.  They have two children: Mary and
William.
