Lawyers and Lawmakers of Kentucky, by H. Levin, editor, 1897. Published by Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago. Reprinted by Southern Historical Press. p. 190. Jefferson County. HENRY CLAY PINDELL, of Louisville, born in 1823, is descended from Dr. Richard Pindell, an early settler in Lexington. His father was Thomas Pindell, a banker of Lexington. The son was educated in Transylvania University, read law under the direction of Judge George Robertson and was graduated in the law department of Transylvania. He began the practice in Lexington, and later resided for a short time at Chicago, after which he settled in Louisville, where he retained his residence until his death, March 8, 1882. He was a representative from Fayette county to the Kentucky legislature in 1849,--the only political office he ever held. In Louisville he was the associate for seven years of W. S. Bodley in the practice of law. He was attorney for several railroads and his clientage was of an important character.

Mr. Pindell was also active in other lines of business, being the cashier of the Norther Bank of Kentucky for seven years, and for some time of the Falls City Tobacco Bank. He spent two years abroad, and in 1871 returned to his profession and to the management of the enterprises in which he was a leading factor.
