MALOTT, of the firm of Malott & Glover, was born in Jefferson County, Ky., January 28, 1837, the eldest of nine children, born to Benjamin F. and Louisa Malott, both natives of Kentucky. Subject was reared and educated in his native State, working upon the farm in the summer and teaching school in the winter. In 1863 he came to Bedford and found employment in the store of his uncle; he afterward went into parternship with Alfred Guthrie at Tunnelton. In 1876 he sold his interest and commenced business alone. In 1882 he came to Mitchell (Marion Township) and formed his present partnership. He has served as Assessor, Appraiser and Township Trustee. He was married in Tunnelton, September 12, 1871, to Miss Melvina Guthrie, daughter of Alfred and Isabel (Hubbard) Guthrie. Miss Guthrie was born in Guthrie Township, Lawrence County, January 25, 1854, and by this union three children have been born: Claude G., Alfred F. and Noble. He is a A. F. & A. M. and a Democrat.
