Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle, Kniffin, 8th ed., 1888, Jefferson Co. J. L. ESCHMANN is a native of Prussia, and was born July 22, 1830. He came to the United States in 1849, and located in Cincinnati O. [sic]. In 1856 he came to Louisville, and formed a copartnership for the manufacture of furniture with Henry Grevy and William Buhrlage, under the firm name of Grevy, Buhrlage & Co., and in 1880 was merged into a stock company--the Kentucky Furniture Company--with Mr. Eschmann as president. He was married in Cincinnati, in 1855, to Miss Louisa Roader, a native of Cincinnati. They have four living children, viz: Henry J., Juliet B., Mattie B. and Emma F. Mr. Eschmann is an energetic and enterprising citizen, and takes an active interest in the welfare and prosperity of his adopted city.
