Used by permission. [Hopkins] CHARLES RICHARD HILL: The brother whose name appears at the head of this sketch was born at Morgantown, Butler County, Kentucky on December 30, 1907, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hill. He attended the schools in his home town and completed studies in Western State Teachers College, Bowling Green, Kentucky, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. Our brother was converted in April, 1925, and united with the Morgantown Baptist Church, being baptized by Rev. W. W. Payne. By this same Church he was licensed to preach in August, 1933, and in May, 1936, was ordained to the Gospel ministry by Revs. John W. T. Givens, R. T. Skinner, R. T. Davis, C. Ford Deusner, Jim Sullivan, T. T. Moore, and Jesse B. Hill. He became pastor of the Calhoun and Glenville Baptist Churches in November, 1937, and labored successfully in these pastorates until October, 1941, when he assumed the pastorate of the Baptist Church at Dawson Springs, Kentucky. He was President of the Southern Regional Training Union in 1937 and 1938 and also served as the Associational [sic] Director of the Daviess-McLean Training Union from 1938 to 1941. He preached the Doctrinal Sermon before the Association in 1939 and served as the Assistant Moderator in 1941. The Calhoun Church finished paying off the indebtedness incurred in the erection of the Sunday School annex while he served there and also licensed and ordained Rev. George H. Riggs to the Gospel ministry. Rev. Truman Cochran was licensed and ordained by the Glenville Church while he was pastor there. Our brother was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Glenn Dabbs of Morgantown, Kentucky, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Dabbs, on November 25, 1936. They have one child. Richard Hill has been very successful in the work of the Lord and a very effective and useful ministry is open before him. We predict a continued success in the work of the Lord wherever he labors.
