Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Henry Co. JOHN B. YOUNG was born in Henry County, Ky., March 12, 1859, and is a son of James H. and Nancy P. (Gaines) Young. James H. was born in Henry County, April 11, 1813. He was a son of Robert and Elizabeth (Bruce) Young. Robert was born in Maryland, and is a son of Joseph Young. James H. Young commenced to preach the gospel in 1835, and still preaches occasionally. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South for a while, but now is a Baptist. Our subject was reared on a farm and educated at the common schools. He married, October 27, 1879, Hallie F. Young, of Henry County. His stock farm comprises 135 acres, and among his blooded horses are "Dandy Dinmont", "Young Medoc" and "Almont Chief", all of famous pedigree.
