CORBIN is a native of Henry County, Ky., born March 8, 1843, the second of a family of ten children born to L. H. and Mildred H. (Stone) Corbin, the latter a native of Nelson County, and a daughter of John Stone. L. H. Corbin was born in Henry County, May 28, 1818, a son of Samuel and Margaret (Wigginton) Corbin. Samuel was born in Virginia, October 1, 1786; married in December, 1810, And died August 15, 1860; his widow, also a native of Virginia, died July 24, 1864. They immigrated to Kentucky in 1797, and settled in Montgomery County, Ky. Samuel's father was Zenas Corbin, who was a Baptist preacher for fifty years, and who was a son of William, a native of England. Samuel R. Corbin was reared and educated in Henry County. He has devoted his time to agricultural pursuits, owns 172 acres of fine land, and make a specialty of raising tobacco. He married, November 28, 1871, Isabel Oldham, of Jefferson County, daughter of Pres Oldham. Five children were born to this union, four of whom are living: Lewis O., Samuel P., Maggie M. and James R.
