Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, 1887 Greenup County MARTIN S. LESLIE, M.D., was born in Pike County, Ky., March 19, 1852. He is a son of Martin and Sarah B. (Auxier) Leslie, who were natives, respectively, of Pike and Johnson Counties, Ky. His paternal grandfather, Robert Leslie, was born in Virginia and came to Kentucky about the year 1800, and his maternal grandfather, Samuel Auxier, was also a native of the Old Dominion and an early settler of Johnson County, Ky. Martin Leslie was born in 1807, was of English-Irish descent, engaged in farming and stock-raising during life, and died in 1859. Martin S. Leslie was reared on the home farm, but began reading medicine at Lexington in 1878. In 1880 he graduated from Ohio Medical College at Cincinnati, and the following two years practiced at Lexington, Ky., after which he removed to Greenup, where he is now lucratively employed in practice. October 14, 1884, he married Miss Florence D. Hunt, a native of Fayette County, Ky. The Doctor is a member of the Scioto County Medical Society of Ohio, and is also a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
