KENTUCKY: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin & Kniffin, 4th ed., 1887 Green Co. F.J. BIBB, M.D., was born September 30, 1838, where he now resides, three miles west of Greensburg, Ky. He is the fourth of four sons and two daughters born to Robert and Sarah (Durrett) Bibb, who were born in Louisa County, Va. They moved from Monroe County, Ky., to Green County about 1830. Robert Bibb drove stock in his early days to Richmond, Va., from Monroe County; was a lieutenant in the war of 1812, but was taken sick while on a march and at once was discharged from the service. He died January 24, 1882, aged eighty-nine. He was a son of James Bibb, who married Nancy Walker. They emigrated from Virginia to Monroe County, Ky., in an early day, but his latter years were spent in Green County; he was an orderly sergeant in the war for independence; subsequently was a large farmer and slave owner and lived to be about one hundred years old. His father came from Ireland. Mrs. Sarah Bibb was a daughter of John and Patsey (Bibb) Durrett, who were born in Louisa County, Va. They came to Kentucky in an early day and settled in Taylor County. He was a substantial farmer and was of Irish descent. The Doctor grew to manhood on a farm, received a good English education and taught two terms of school. In 1862 he commenced the study of medicine, graduated from the Kentucky Medical School in 1865, and in 1866 from the university; he located where he now resides on the old homestead, and has here practiced his profession ever since. In politics he is a Democrat, but cast his first presidential vote for Fillmore.
