WILLIAM LUTHER was born December 3, 1840, in Dickson County, Tenn., and came with his parents to Graves County, Ky., in 1853, where he still retains his residence. His father, Jacob Luther, was born in North Carolina, in 1814, removed to Tennessee in 1825, and is still living. He was the son of George Luther of North Carolina, who died about 1849. He was a descendant of the Luther family of Germany. Subject's mother was Elizabeth, daughter of John Anderson of Dickson County, Tenn., and the union of herself and husband resulted in the following named children: Harriet E., Eliza (Bullock), subject, Mary A. (Easley), M. Tennessee (Suthard), Andrew J., John F.B., Alice D. (Bennett), and Travis N. Subject was married March 26, 1863, to Miss Eveline, daughter of Samuel W. and Annie (Bryon) Thompson of Graves County, Ky., and to them have been born Theodosia (Moore), Benjamin F., Andrew A., Annie E., Thomas J., Fannie B., Jennie R., Martin E. (deceased), and Katie May (deceased). Mr. Luther is a farmer, owning 620 acres of valuable land, well improved. He is turning his attention to the handling and raising of live stock, which he finds remunerative. In religion, he is a member of the Christian Church and in politics a Democrat.
