Graves Co.

E.H. DAY, Graves County, is a native of Virginia, and the eldest son of
John and Mary (Keeton) Day, both born in the same State.  Mr. Day
remained in Virginia until the year 1827, at which time the family
emigrated to Tennessee, settling in Rutherford County.  Ten years later
the family came to Kentucky, and located in Lynnville Precinct, near
Terrapin Creek, where John Day died in 1855; his widow followed him to
the grave one year later.  The early years of subject's life were spent
on his father's farm, and at the age of twenty-three he commenced life
for himself in Graves County, purchasing a fine tract of land, on which
he lived for a period of eleven years.  At the end of that time he
bought a part of the present farm in Lynnville Precinct, where he has
since resided.  Here he made several additions to his original purchase,
and at the present time owns a beautiful and comfortable place of 184
acres of as good land as there is in the county.  Mr. Day was married
in December, 1843, to Elizabeth Morris, daughter of Moses and Weney
[sic] Morris, of North Carolina.  Mr. and Mrs. Day are the parents of 
two children, Mary J. (wife of William Morris), and Winny (wife of 
Calvin Carter).  Mr. Day's life has been a quiet one and for a long 
number of years he has gone in and out among the people without an 
enemy.  He is a member of the regular Baptist Church, as is also his 
wife.
