Graves County

REV. WILLIAM M. ANDREW, Graves County, was born February 17, 1833, in 
Bedford County, Tenn.  His parents were Beriah and Jane C. (Morrison) 
Andrew, both natives of North Carolina, and now living in Tennessee.  The
father is a farm and his wife a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian
Church.  They moved to Graves County, Ky., in 1854, and returned to 
Tennessee in 1867.  Our subject, the sixth in a family of ten children,
began for himself at the age of twenty-one.  Going to school and teaching
occupied his attention the next ten years.  Then for a number of years he
was actively engaged in the ministry.  His time is still employed between 
the ministry and the farm, in both of which he has been pre-eminently
successful.  He was ordained to preach in 1863, and has preached to
congregations in the church of his choice in nearly all the churches within
the bounds of the Mayfield Presbytery, of which he has been a member of the
past two eyars.  Previously he was a member of the Obion Presbytery.   He
started even with the world, but now has two tracts of land, containing in
all about 200 acres.  It will thus be seen [he] has been very successful
in life, filling the pulpit with general acceptance, and doing a thriving
business on the farm.  Rev. Andrew was married October 24, 1865, to Miss
Mary A., daughter of William and Elizabeth Hatchel, of Graves County.  To
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew were born three children, James M., William W. and
Emma.  Mrs. Andrew is also a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church,
and Mr. Andrew is a member of the Masonic fraternity.  Rev. Andrew has the
proud satisfaction, whle remembering that he has been the architect of his 
own fortune, to know that he has so lived as not only to win, but also to
deserve the confidence and esteem of all who know him.
