Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. HOMER WESTOVER was born on the 6th day of January, 1807, at Green River, Austerliz County, N. Y., and was the son of Jonathan Westover. When only thirteen years of age he emigrated to Virginia, where he continued to reside until he attained his majority. He then moved to Jamestown, Pa., where he married Rebecca Smith, and where several of his oldest children were born. In 1845 he came to Kentucky with his family, coming down the Ohio River in a flat boat, and settled in Williamstown. He was a staunch Democrat, and cast his first vote for "Old Hickory" Jackson while a resident of Virginia. For forty years he was a devoted member of the Baptist Church, first uniting with that church at Crooked Creek. Mr. Westover died November 29, 1894.
