STRATTON was born in Ross County, O., [sic], and was a devoted member of the Centurion Lodge No. 100, I.O.O.F. His parents were New Yorkers and native American citizens. For two years he was a student at Dick's Collegiate Institute, in Brooklyn, New York. He settled in Kentucky in 1850. In 1872 he was elected County School Superintendent of Grant County. June 17, 1751, he married Miss Susan Penick, of this county. Three children were born to this union. Esquire Stratton was a veteran of the Mexican War, having served with General Scott from Vera Cruz to the City of Mexico. He joined the Christian Church in 1852, and was a very active church worker.
