Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Grant Co. WILLIAM H. STEERS was born near Dry Ridge, Grant Co., Ky., November 15, 1834 and is a son of John and Jane (Frakes) Steers, natives, respectively, of Harrison and Garrard Counties, Ky. John Steers, a son of William Steers, a native of Virginia, was born April 15, 1811, and died in Covington in 1839. Mrs. Jane Steers, a daughter of William Frakes, of Virginia, was born February 13, 1816, and died February 23, 1884, in her sixty-eighth year. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Three children were born to John and Jane Steers, viz: William H., James M. and John H., of whom William H., the eldest, is the subject of this sketch. He was brought up on a farm, and, with the exception of three years spent in Covington, when a boy, he has always followed farming. He now owns 196 3/4 acres of land near Dry Ridge and Mount Zion Pike. February 10, 1885, he married Elizabeth Conrad, daughter of J. S. and Eliza (Renaker) Conrad. Mrs. Steers was born in 1843. Ten children have blessed their union: Eliza J., Mary C., Fannie L., Susan A. (deceased), John S., Ollie, William T., Nellie, Rosina Anna and Elizabeth.
