SIMPSON of Mason is one of the young men of Grant County who is making a success out of their chosen profession. He was born in Grant County on the 22d day of January, 1852, and is the oldest child of a family of 4 boys and 3 girls born to George W. and Mary A. (Robinson) Simpson--is a product of the farm life of Grant County. He secured most of his education attending the common country schools. When he grew up to manhood's estate he began life as a school teacher, and for several years gave all of his attention to this profession. Later he gave his natural bent to study medicine free rein, and attended the Cincinnati Medical College for two terms, graduating with honors. He located in Grant County, and began the practice of his profession, but not for long as he was given a place in the revenue service under Commingore during the administration of President Benjamin Harrison. For four years he served as Gauger and Store-keeper. When Cleveland was elected the second time Dr. Simpson's place was given to a Democrat and the Doctor returned to his first love and located at Mason, in this county, where he has been ever since. He was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Woodyard in 1886, and five children--one boy and four girls have come to bless this union. Doctor Simpson has all of his life been an active member of the Republican party, has been active in it councils, and loyal to its principles. The Doctor is a member of the Christian Church and a loyal Knight of Pythias. Dr. Simpson is a member of the Board of Pension Examiners of Grant County and an examiner for the New York Life and Mutual Life Insurance Companies of New York.
