Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. DR. A. V. MENEFEE comes of prolific stock. He has five brothers and one sister. He is a son of S. G. and Missouri (Vallandingham) Menefee. His father was a farmer and the Doctor received most of his early education in the common schools of the county. He went to college one year, after which he taught two terms in the country schools of this county. He attended the Louisville Medical and the Kentucky Medical Colleges, and was graduated in 1892. He was vice-president of his class and received a gold medal for his knowledge of materia medica and therapeutics. He took a two-months' course in the Opthalmic Hospital, in Cincinnati, and took a special course on eye, ear, nose and throat diseases. He began practicing his profession at Dry Ridge, and soon built up a fine practice in that neighborhood, but being of a rambling disposition he soon changed his location to Delia. He has practiced at a number of points in Grant County. About a year ago he located at Williamstown, where he has been since. His practice here has grown to large proportions. He has earned the confidence of the people of Williamstown and vicinity, and has proven himself a master of his profession. He is Secretary of the U. S. Pension Board of Grant County, a member of the Knights of Pythias, and of the Red Men and Masonic Lodges. He is a member of the Christian Church. Dr. Menefee was married to Miss Ada May Johnson in 1893. One child, a bright boy of seven, is the result of this union.
