Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Grant Co. WILLIAM McCOY was born near Dry Ridge, Grant County, Ky., in 1849, and is a son of John and Margaret (Lowe) McCoy. The former died in 1862. Mrs. McCoy, a daughter of John Lowe, of Grant County, was a member of the Baptist Church, and died in 1851. William McCoy was reared on a farm, has always followed farming, and now owns 136 acres of land. He is the fifth child of a family of six. In 1879 he married Julia Conrad, daughter of William G. and Lucinda (Hedger) Conrad, of Grant County, members of two of the oldest families in the county. Mrs. McCoy was born in 1853, and is the third in a family of six. Three children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. McCoy: John W., Clarrie B. and Stanley. Mrs. McCoy's parents, William G. and Lucinda Conrad, were married July 29, 1847. Her mother died December 24, 1872; her father died May 4, 1873; her grandfather, Jacob C. Hedger, died August 9, 1877, aged eighty-one years, ten months and one day; her grandmother, Sarah (Darrow) Hedger, died December 20, 1874; aged seventy-seven years and thirty-four days. They were raised in Harrison County, Ky., and were married April 22, 1819. Her grandparents, William and Elizabeth (Boyers) Conrad, were married September 11, 1817.
