Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. CLARENCE F. HOGSETT is the son of S. E. and Nannie E. (Marr) Hogsett, and was born June 4, 1877. He received his education at the common schools at Crittenden and at Centre College, Danville. He was reared on a farm until he was nearly grown, after which time he engaged in clerical work, and has held a number of positions of trust and has always been faithful to every duty. He was for several years a clerk in the Tobacco Growers' Deposit Bank at Crittenden, and works a great deal of the time now in the said institution. He is a confidential clerk in the store of Hogsett & Ratcliffe, dealers in dry goods and general merchandise. About a year ago he went to Kansas City, where he was employed as bookkeeper for Fred Harvey, in a large railway office, and worked in that position for several months, but finally pined for the "Old Kentucky Home" and came back to the town and state of his birth. He is a Democrat in politics, but has never held or been a candidate for any office, save Police Judge of Crittenden, to which position he has been appointed for three consecutive terms, and the able manner in which he has acquitted himself has made him many friends and admirers among the business men and leading citizens of Crittenden. He is also a director in the Crittenden Building Association, for which he was secretary for three years. He is of a high moral character, strictly sober, and altogether a young man of exceptionally good habits and fine attainments. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, and an all around first-rate fellow. Hogsett Marr Ratcliffe Harvey = Danville-Boyle-KY KS http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/grant/hogsett.cf.txt
