Franks and is one of a family of thirteen children and was born on the 2d day of May, 1852. He grew up on his father's farm, attending the common school at Mount Zion and securing a fairly good education. Like his father before him he became a farmer, and has been very successful in his business. On the 30th day of March, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Beach, an accomplished and lovable lady of the Mount Zion neighborhood. To this union have been born, both of whom are yet living, Miss Daisy, about 17, and Miss Gladys, about 12. They are charming young ladies. James Perry owns a fine farm of 197 acres. He has it well fenced, well stocked and a fine cottage residence and good barns and outbuildings. He raises livestock of all kinds and tobacco, wheat, oats and corn, and is a modern progressive farmer. He is a member of the Missionary Baptist church and he and family have done much for the church and Sunday school. In politics he is a Democrat.
