Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Grant Co. JOSEPH C. FRANKS, a prominent farmer near Stewartsville, Grant Co., Ky, was born September 3, 1833, and is a son of James and Fannie (Cogle) Franks, natives of Kentucky. James Franks, who was born in December, 1800, moved from Grant to Owen County about 1818, but died in Grant County, July 1885. The maternal grandfather of our subject was a native of Kentucky, and died in Grant County. Joseph C. Franks has spent his life on the farm, and now owns 540 acres of well-improved land. In 1868 he married Miss Mary Jump, a native of Grant County, and they have seven children: Ella, James, Asa, Martha, Mary C., Newton and Ezra.
