Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Grant Co. LITTLETON FENLEY was born in Crittenden, Grant Co., Ky., May 17, 1830, and is the eldest son of John W. and Polly Ann (Robinson) Fenley, natives, respectively, of Virginia and Bourbon County, Ky. John W. Fenley, who was born in 1800, settled in Scott County in 1818, and one or two years later moved to Grant County; he owned the land where Crittenden now stands, which was laid off in lots in 1832, and his wife, Polly A. Fenley named it. He was captain of a light horse company of State militia for several years, was appointed sheriff about 1838, and died in 1864. Littleton Robinson, the maternal grandfather of our subject, was a Virginian, and emigrated from Bourbon to Grant County, Ky. Littleton Fenley was educated in the common schools of Grant County, and has always engaged in farming; he owns ninety acres of land in Grant County, and 200 acres of cotton land in Arkansas. He has been magistrate for eight years, and previously was police judge of Crittenden. In September, 1856, he married Miss Elizabeth Craig, daughter of Judge Albert Craig (deceased), of Gallatin County, Ky. Two children have blessed this union: Craig and Virginia.
