Souvenir Edition, The Williamstown Courier, Williamstown, Ky, May 30, 1901, reprinted September 19, 1981 by the Grant County KY Historical Society. R. C. BLAINE is the son of Robert Blaine and Fannie (Thompson) Blaine, and was born in Stanford, Lincoln County, Ky., May 15, 1852. His father and mother were both natives of East Tennessee, and both were of Irish descent, his great grandfather having been born in Ireland, and emigrated to the United States in the early part of the present century. There were seven children in this father's family, only two of whom are living. They are John Blaine, a farmer of Lincoln County; Elizabeth Tupman, wife of Thomas Tupman, a farmer of the same county; R. C. Blaine, the subject of this sketch, and Miss Kate Blaine, a maiden lady, living on a farm in the county of Lincoln. R. C. Blaine was raised on a farm, educated in the common schools, and attended for a while Houstonville College in his native county. He began life for himself as a farmer, and emigrated to Grant County and settled in Grant County near where he now lives in 1875. He has been a farmer ever since.
