SQUIRE DANIEL FORD was born November 20, 1815, on Kentucky River, Garrard County, where he was reared to manhood; in 1836 he removed to Jessamine County, and in 1864 to Bryantsville, his present place of residence. His father, Timothy Ford, a native of Goochland County, Va., was born, September 16, 1773; removed to Garrard County, Ky., about 1800; was a teacher, a farmer, and a slave owner, an old line Whig, a Baptist, and died November 29, 1839. He was the son of Reuben Ford, of Virginia, born August 19, 1742, a prominent Baptist minister, and a leader in securing liberty to the Baptist denomination in Virginia, a wealthy planter and slave owner who died October 6, 1823. He was the son of William Ford. Reuben Ford married Mary Bowles, in 1770, and their offspring were Reuben, ELizabeth, Timothy, Polly (Hughs), William A., Benjamin B., Daniel and Sally G. (Henly and Mobley). Timothy Ford married in 1793, Betsy W., daughter of Rev. William Webber (born May 21, 1876 [sic], died Aug. 7, 1844) and from this union sprang Reuben, William W., John B. Polly W. (England and Reynolds), Fanny B. (Smith), Eliza (Ryan), Timothy, Benjamin B., Susan B. (deceased), Daniel, and Lewis T. Daniel was first married, January 2, 1838, to Miss Sallie Jewell, who died in 1839. On August 20, 1840, he espoused Miss Sarah H., daughter of Joseph and Martha (Overstreet) Boughn, of Jessamine County (born July 3, 1820) and to them have been born Edward S., Cordelia H. (Combs) and Josephine L. (Jennings). Mr. Ford was engaged for twenty-five years as a carpenter and builder, and eighteen years in mercantile pursuits, with encouraging success. Hie is now engaged in the undertaking business. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and in politics a Prohibitionist. He has served as magistrate and member of the court of claims of Garrard County for eight years.
