Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle, Kniffin, 4th ed., 1887, Garrard County. SAMUEL F. EMBRY was born in Madison, Ky., in 1837, and is a son of Thomas H. and Cassandra (Fox) Embry. Thomas H. was also born in Madison County, and was a farmer and stock raiser, and was thrice married, first to Cassandra Fox, who bore him five sons and three daughters; his second marriage was with the widow Howard, and to this union one child was born: his third wife was the widow Kennedy, by whom he was the father of one son and one daughter. Samuel F. Embry was first a merchant at Richmond, Ky., which pursuit he followed twelve years, when he removed to Garrard County, and owns 200 acres of land near Lancaster, on which he now lives and is cultivating. He was married in 1871 to Miss Jennie Simpson, and their union has been blessed with two sons: Robert and William. Mr. Embry is a member of the Christian Church, and in politics is a Democrat.
