Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle, Kniffin, 4th ed., 1887, Garrard County. GEORGE DENNY was born January 3, 1825 in Garrard County, Ky., and is a son of George and Margaret (Miller) Denny, by whom one son and two daughters were reared. George Denny, Sr., was born September 16, 1774, in North Carolina, and was brought to Kentucky by his parents, who settled near Paint Lick as early as 1785. He became an extensive farmer and slave owner; was a Presbyterian, and in politics a Whig. His first wife was Sally Graham, to whom two sons and five daughters were born. He died in 1841, and was a son of Alex. Denny, who was twice married and reared a large family, from whom spring many of the families of Garrard and adjoining counties. He was one of the earliest pioneers of Garrard County; in 1810 he moved to Boone County, Mo. Margaret (Miller) Denny was born in Garrard County, October, 1784, in Paint Lick Fort, and died December, 1871, was a daughter of William and Nancy (Yancy) Miller. George Denny was reared on a farm. At the age of sixteen years took charge of the home farm. September, 1849, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Faulkner, a daughter of John and Jane (Kavenaugh) Faulkner, natives respectively of Virginia and Franklin County, Tenn. John Faulkner was brought to the State at a very early date by his parents, and became one of the leading farmers of Garrard County. In 1810 he was elected to the Lower House, in 1812 was elected to the Senate, and served successively in that branch for twenty years; served in the Legislature longer than any other man in the State. He was one of the patriots in the war of 1812, serving as major under Jennings, and was afterward made general of militia. He died in 1838. Jane (Kavenaugh) Faulkner reared three daughters and one son by her first husband. Her second husband was John W. Walker, by whom four sons and one daughter were reared. She was a relative of Bishop Kavenaugh. Mr. Denny was elected to the State Senate in 1861, and declined a re-election. He was one of the principal men in organizing Lancaster National Bank; was elected its president in 1872, and held that position ten years; in 1886 was appointed master commissioner of Garrard Circuit Court. Mr. Denny also owns an interest in the Lancaster Flouring Mill. He is a leading member of the F. & A. M., and he and wife are members of the Presbyterian Church. In politics he is a Republican. Before the war he was a stanch Whig. Denny Miller Walker Graham Miller Yancy Faulkner Kavenaugh = Franklin-TN VA NC http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/garrard/denny.g.txt
