Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Franklin Co. G. W. ROBB, the third son of Frederick and Mary (Neat) Robb, was born March 13, 1825. His father was a native of Maryland, born in 1789, and when a boy came with his father to Jessamine County, Ky., where he was engaged in farming and milling. Subsequently he removed to Franklin County, where the same occupations engaged his attention, and where he died in 1861. His wife, Mary, was born in Maryland and died in 1855. Our subject's grandfather, Michael Robb, was a native of Germany, where his great-grandfather, Frederick B. Robb, was also born. G. W. Robb is of German descent, was born in Jessamine County, reared in Franklin County and educated at the common schools. In 1850 he commenced clerking in a general store at Lexington, remaining four years; then for several years clerked at Frankfort and next was in business for himself in the latter place until 1863, when he bought his present place of 310 acres, six miles west of Midway, Woodford County, where he makes a specialty of raising Shorthorn cattle and Cotswold sheep. December 13, 1860, he married Lizzie, daughter of A. W. and Jane (Macklin) Macklin of Franklin County. Of the four children born to this union, three are living: Mattie F., Jannie M. and Willetta. George A. died April 3, 1886. Mattie F. and Jannie M. were educated at Georgetown College, Scott County, and Willetta at Pewee Valley Seminary, from which she graduated in 1883. Mr. Robb and family are members of the Baptist Church.
