Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Franklin Co. ROBERT C. CHURCH, a native of Frankfort, Ky., was born March 31, 1841, and is the third son of Robert W. and Lucretia (Jackson) Church, natives of Franklin County. His grandfather, Thomas Church, who was born in Virginia, was here with Boone, was one of the pioneers, and was captured by the Indians. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, and was probably born about 1796. In the fall of 1861, Robert C. Church enlisted in Theophilus Steel's company, and was out until the close of the war. He was wounded at Hartford, Tenn., and near Bardstown, Ky. On his return he became an extensive stock trader in the South until 1872, when he engaged in the breeding of trotters, and owns Line S., Lena Miller and others to note. He married, June 28, 1876, Miss Kate O. Church, a native of Franklin County, and a daughter of Jack Church. To this union one child, William Henderson, was born November 18, 1878.
