JAMES CHURCH was born March 12, 1830, and is a son of James and Mary (Moss) Church, who were natives of Franklin County, Ky., and Virginia respectively. The Church family is one of the oldest and best known throughout the county, the grandfather of James Robert Church having been one of its original pioneers. James Church was married to Miss Mary W. Lewis, daughter of Zachary Lewis (deceased) of Franklin County, and to their union six children were born: Zachary, Henry, Fannie, Belle, George W., Temple and Emma. Mr. Church's farm of 385 acres, on which he lives, is beautifully located four miles from Frankfort. His farm on the river Elkhorn contains 300 acres. He is a member of the Christian Church.
