Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, 1887 Fleming County F.H. DUDLEY, a prominent furniture dealer of Winchester, Clark County, Ky., was born in Warren County, Mo., July 22, 1832, and is the fourth of a family of eight children born to Parker and Ann H. (Taylor) Dudley. Parker Dudley was born in Fayette County, Ky., in 1792, was engaged in agricultural pursuits, and for eighteen years prior to his death was receiver of public moneys at Palmyra, Mo. He died in October, 1853; he was a son of Ambrose Dudley, a native of Spottsylvania County, Va., who immigrated to Kentucky, then part of Virginia, at an early day, and settled in Fayette County. He was the first Baptist preacher at Bryant's Station Church, Fayette County, of which church he was pastor for forty years, and his son, Thomas P. Dudley, was pastor of the same church sixty years. Mrs. Ann H. Dudley, a native of Caroline County, Va., was a daughter of Reuben T. amd Mary (Thornton) Taylor. Reuben T. Taylor was born in Virginia, came to Kentucky at an early date and settled in Fayette County, where he was a farmer and stock-raiser. F.H. Dudley received a good education, and in 1855 commenced steamboating on the Mississippi River, having his head-quarters at St. Louis; he was thus engaged until 1863, when he went to Cincinnati and became Secretary of the Licking Valley Fire Insurance Company, which position he retained until 1868; he then moved to Clark County and commenced the practice of law, in which county he owns a beautiful farm of 185 acres near Winchester. In 1881 he opened a furniture and carpet store in Winchester, which business he has since carried on successfully. In September, 1875, he married Nannie Kimbrough, of Harrison County, Ky., daughter of Dr. John W. and Alice (Tebbs) Kimbrough. Three children have been born to this union, Thomas P., John M. and Tebbs. Mr. And Mrs. Dudley are members of the Episcopal Church.
