Dr. Walter Warfield Dr. Walter Warfield, a noted surgeon in the Revolutionary War went from Prince George County, Maryland, to Lexington, Kentucky. His mother was a Miss Griffin, and my recollection is that his father was named Zacheus. He had a brother, Dr. Charles Alexander Warfield, who lived and died in Price George County and had half-brothers and a favorite half-sister Anna (my grandmother), who married Nancy Waters [sic], of Maryland. Dr. Walter Warfield intrusted to her care all his papers. After his death they were sent to his family to be used in securing a pension. He had a sister Sallie, who married a Gassaway. In a sketch of Miss Laura Clay, daughter of Gen. Marcellus Clay, it was stated that her mother was a daughter of Dr. Elisha Warfield; she must be a descendant of Dr. Walter.
