ANDREW McCALLA, the father of Rev. William L. and General John M. McCalla,
was another of the pioneers of Lexington.  He spent most of his life in
acts of charity and kindness.  He was the projector, and main stay in its
infancy, of the lunatic asylum.  He died at a good old age.
