Used by permission. [Daviess] DEACON EMISON SHAW: This beloved brother was for many years an outstanding leader in the Pleasant Grove Church. He was born in Henderson County, Kentucky, on December 6, 1851, and came to Daviess County with his parents in 1852, and lived the remainder of his earthly life near Sorgho. He married Miss Elizabeth Stowers on May 5, 1879, and one son, William F., blessed this union. The son was for twenty years the Clerk of the Pleasant Grove Church. His father likewise served in this same office in the years 1879-1912. The son served in the period 1919-1939. The elder Shaw served the Pleasant Grove Church in the office of deacon and was a messenger to the Association on numerous occasions during his lifetime. He received his education from Rockville University in Maryland and the University of Kentucky at Lexington. Mr. Shaw died on June 13, 1926 and Mrs. Shaw on March 4, 1929. Their only son still lives on the home-place. Mr. Shaw was a model Christian and served his generation well.
