JEFFERSON RITCHEY, born in Spencer County, Ind., Feb. 28, 1840, is a son of William Ritchey, who brought his family to Kentucky in 1840. He was married in October, 1857, to Mary E. Burnett, daughter of William Burnett, of Hancock County, Ky. Nine children were born to them, all now deceased. One daughter, Mary, was married and left one child, also now deceased. His wife died April 14, 1880. Mr. Ritchey is now left alone and makes his home with Uncle Reuben N. Barker. He was a soldier in the Confederate army during the late war, and was wounded and left for dead on Shiloh battle-ground. He afterward returned home and enlisted in Company F, One Hundred and Twentieth Indiana Infantry, U. S. A., and served till the close of the war.
