REUBEN MORELAND, farmer, was born in Bourbon County, Ky., April 11, 1826. His father, James Moreland, was born in St. Mary's County, Md., Jan. 12, 1795, and died in Owen County, Ky., Oct. 20, 1864. His mother, Ann (Brammell) Moreland, was born in King George County, Md., in 1798, and died in June, 1875. Reuben was the second of five children. He was married in Grant County, Ky., Feb. 20, 1850, to Rebecca Blythe, a native of Nicholas County, Ky., born Sept. 20, 1835. They have four children--Elizabeth, born June 12, 1854; Charles, May 1, 1856; David, Sept. 20, 1858; Margaret, July 1, 1866. In March, 1882, Mr. Moreland came to Daviess County and bought 119 1/2 acres of fine land, three miles southwest of Owensboro, of Clint. Griffith, paying $25.50 per acre for it. He now owns one of the best farms in Daviess County.
