He came to America in 1866, landing in New York. He remained there two weeks and then went to Chicago, where he lived four years. In 1870 he moved to Virginia and remained there two years, when he went to Warrick County, Ind. In 1879 he came to Kentucky and lived in Butler County till 1881, when he came to Daviess County. He has leased the mines three miles east of Owensboro for five years and is now engaged in mining. They take out about 300 bushels of coal per day. May 4, 1870, Mr. McDonald married Sarah Ann Benson, a native of Butler County, Ky., born in 1848. They have five children--Thomas, Daniel, Nancy, Calvin and Diller.
