HENRY McDANIEL (deceased), late of Knottsville Precinct, was born in 
Daviess County in 1818, and was a son of Solomon McDaniel, a pioneer of 
this county.  Our subject was married in 1833 to Miss Nancy Monarch, 
daughter of James Monarch (deceased).  They had ten children, of whom 
five are living--Francis K., Mary L., Aurelia, Richard and Virginia.  
One son, Ignatius, died in the late war.  Another son, Thomas, died at 
the age of nineteen years.  Mr. McDaniel was a farmer all his life.  He 
died March 7, 1864.  He was a life-long Catholic.
