"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, p. 468. Used by permission. [Daviess] DEACON ORION NOEL MAGRUDER: O. N. Magruder has been treasurer of the District Mission Board of the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association since 1928 and the Board never had a better and more faithful servant in this office. He was born at Habit, Daviess County, Kentucky, near Bethabara Church, on December 23, 1879, and is the son of Dr. F. M. Magruder and Nannie Jane Mobberly. His father was a practicing physician in Daviess County for a number of years. He attended the Utica grade schools and the Utica normal school and obtained a first class teacher's certificate. He taught school for three years and was a banker for twenty-four years. For the past ten years he has been the efficient President of the Owensboro Federal Savings and Loan Association. He was converted at the age of nineteen and united with the Oak Grove Baptist Church (now Utica) and was baptized by Rev. T. M. Morton. After moving to Owensboro he placed his membership with the Third Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon of this Church on February 17, 1926, and continues in that office to date. His work as Treasurer of the Districts Mission Board has been outstanding. He is faithful, accurate, prompt, and a man of integrity in this office. The Board has had other good men to serve in this capacity but none have excelled him. His kind, courteous, and quiet demeanor have gained for him a multitude of friends. One thing can be said of him, he is a Christian gentleman and Christian business man. Mr. Magruder married Miss Willie May Stallings, the daughter of a Baptist minister, on August 10, 1921. They have two children, Lina Belle and Jane Noel Magruder. Their home life is ideal and inspiring. The entire family holds membership with the Third Baptist Church of Owensboro.
