LANCASTER, born in Marion County, Ky., Aug. 28, 1850, is a son of T. B. Lancaster, who was born in Union County, Ky., and came to Daviess County in 1852, where he died in January, 1870. His mother, Mary (Johnston) Lancaster, was born in Union County in 1824, and is still living in Daviess County. She is the mother of thirteen children, five living--Nellie, born in 1838, now Mrs. C. H. Stevens; J. R., born in 1850; C. B., born in 1852; Miles, born in 1859, and Lena, born in 1869. Mr. Lancaster was partly educated in Dayton, Ohio. In 1875 he opened a grocery store on West Second street, Owensboro; remained there five years and in 1880 moved to his present store, where he has a fine stock of general merchandise, valued at $4,000. The building is a large two story brick, which with the lit is also worth $4,000. He owns a house and lot valued at $300. He commenced business on a small capital in a rented house and now owns a residence and fine business property, the total value of which is $8,300. In religious faith Mr. Lancaster is a Catholic.
