Used by permission. [Daviess] MISS NINA JOHN JETT: Miss Nina Jett is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. (Babe) Jett, and was born at Owensboro, Kentucky, on October 8, 1894. Her father gave the land on which the Newman Baptist Church was erected and on which it is still located. Her mother, the former Miss Artie Belle Schenk, was instrumental in beginning the Newman Sunday School out of which later came the Newman Church. Miss Jett attended the Newman grade school, Owensboro High School, the University of Louisville, and the Woman's Missionary Union Training School, Louisville, Kentucky. She was converted at the age of twelve, in 1908, in Jones' Chapel, and was baptized into the fellowship of the First Baptist Church, Owensboro, Kentucky, by Dr. L. B. Warren. She is a charter member of the Newman Baptist Church and has served her church as a Sunday School teacher. President of the W. M. S., Young People's Leader, and as Secretary and Treasurer of the Church. After completing her course of studies in the W. M. U. Training School she served for some time as Church Secretary and Educational director of the Broadway Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky; the First Baptist Church, Ashland, Kentucky; and the Victory Memorial Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky. She has also served as Young People's Leader for the W. M. U. and also State Intermediate S. S. Worker besides representing the Baptist Book Store at State and Regional meetings for a period of about ten years. Miss Jett has been a consistent helper in the work of her church and the Association, especially among the Young People and the Women. Her abilities have been recognized in every work she has done and only eternity alone can reveal the good she has accomplished.
