They had a family of ten children, seven sons and three daughters, Thomas T. being the third son and fifth child. He was but ten years old when his father died. In 1856 the family came to Daviess County and settled on a farm in Masonville Precinct. She was born in Cass County, Mo., Dec. 8, 1840, and was a daughter of Washington and Rebecca (Harrison) Cook. After his marriage, Mr. Hite settled on his farm in Masonville Precinct. He soon after sold it and leased one in Upper Town Precinct for six or seven months; then returned to Masonville and remained four or five months; then rented a farm in Murray Precinct six years; then purchased his present farm in Masonville Precinct, where he and family still reside, and where he owns a fine farm of 140 acres, seventy-five acres under cultivation.
